AN UNEXPECTED PATH

Medieval Women: Voices and Visions Exhibition at the British Library Exhibition, February 2025

Certain milestones mark each of our lives with wounds that turn out to be the portals to our awakening. Mine began in my mother’s womb. My mother carried me in grief and mourning for her own mother, Brigid, who died early on in the pregnancy. My mother’s grief transmitted itself to me whilst in utero and has marked my entire life, and paradoxically, brought me close to the spirit of my grandmother.

Becoming a mother myself aged 33, was the greatest joy of my life but I fell into post natal depression which triggered the start of my inner journey to healing and authenticity. I walked away from my legal career to be a stay at home mother, and later, to pursue a more creative career path. My plan was to become a writer and philosopher but a spontaneous mystical awakening in 2015 unexpectedly sent my life in a spiritual direction.

My awakening began with four life-changing mystical experiences that revealed to me the oneness of all that exists, and the sacredness of all of life. From that point on, I became determined to live my life aligned with these truths. This has become the deep work of my life.

Passing on what I have learned.

The essence of the wisdom path is to awaken to our inner divinity in co-creation with the Divine, with Others, and with Nature. This naturally leads us to accept our responsibility as emerging elders and to accept our soul gifts, and place them in service to others. Therefore, just as many teachers and guides have helped me, now it’s time for me to pass on all that I have learned in service to supporting other women in their awakening, to find deep meaning in life, and to accept and share their soul gifts.

My deep desire is to support women to awaken to their inner divinity, authenticity, and True Self.

I hope that I will serve you well.

Practices to support integration

After my mystical awakening began I engaged in deep personal work to support my understanding of the experiences I was having on a daily basis. I needed help to process and integrate it all. Along with daily meditation, prayer and journaling, I engaged in body work, psychotherapy and read deeply in Jungian psychology. I learned from wise women how to be in right relationship with Nature through ritual and ceremony. I read and researched mysticism throughout history and across cultures and ultimately I did an MA in Applied Spirituality in 2022-24. My thesis explored the transformative nature of visionary mysticism among 13th century European Medieval women — including Mechthild of Magdeburg and Gertrude of Helfta. I offered a reading of their mystical experience and writing through a Jungian lens. This research proved invaluable for deepening my understanding of the path and process of awakening and inner transformation.

Academic and professional background

In my first career I worked as a barrister for 11 years. When my second child was born I became a stay at home mom for seven years. I went back to college aged 40, to study literature and philosophy. I graduated with double first class honours and took first place in philosophy in my university, UCD, and won the Pierse Malone scholarship in philosophy awarded by the NUI. I won an international  academic award for a literature essay. Then I did an MA in creative writing during which I wrote an, as yet unpublished, novel depicting a trauma narrative. My firm plan was to become a novelist but during that same year, my awakening began and my life took a definitive spiritual turn. I won the 2019 Hay House writing competition in Ireland and had my spiritual teaching-memoir published in 2021. In 2022 -24 I did an MA in Applied Spirituality in SETU. I will be giving a conference paper at the ‘Mystical Entanglements’ conference in Antwerp June 2025, hosted by Ruusbroec Institute and the Mystical Theology Network.

Now I am beginning my work in the world which is to share my sacred writing, to support other women in their awakening, and to encourage women to accept our soul gifts, to find our true voice, and to be in service to healing our broken world.

My Work

All of my work flows from my mystical experience and the directions I receive to share the love of Christ with others by sharing my mystical writing. I’m a mystical author in the lineage of the Cosmic Christ, especially the lineage of the Exchange of the Sacred Heart. I’m also a spiritual writer, teacher, and sacred writing guide.

‘Tell them I AM love. Tell them I AM love. Tell them I AM nothing but love.’
